Since 1982 this form of media has grown to be the most prevalent delivery vehicle for Dr. Hook music. Unfortunately the small and large labels who have released these many CDs, have had very little regards for what fans actually want. So we have wound up with dozens and dozens of confusing CDs. Ones with same names, similar names, different artwork or images and same tracks, different tracks and same names, same album content with different artwork or images, same artwork with different album content, and every variation there of. Fans have cried out in frustration trying to figure out exactly what the heck appears on a given album, and whether they should try to find a copy to buy or buy a copy they've found. Half a dozen CDs called Sharing The Night Together, and even more named Sylvia's Mother, try asking someone WHICH Sylvia's Mother they are talking about! Meanwhile many Dr Hook albums have still not been released to CD at all and yet we keep getting those same damn 30 or 40 hits. Yes they are hits, yes they will sell, but how many different ways do they need to be offered? In this section in particular, we will try to pass on as much info as possible to help you in building a Dr. Hook music collection. A small note, several Hook albums not officially released to CD, have been found as bootleg releases sold as "imports" on the fake "Dark Knight" label. While we would normally not encourage fans to pay a premium price for an item that the artist is not even receiving any royalties for, in the case of stuff the record labels just are not getting out to fans, it may be your only opportunity to fill that gap on your shelf. Hopefully any true fans will replace these illegitimate offerings with legitimate authorized releases when and if they become available. Hopefully in the near future all of the original albums will exist as CDs so fans can know what they do and don't already own, then it will be simply a job of finding the rare and unreleased tracks, in the mean time this site may help!
