45's
45 rpm 7" single record "Picture Sleeve" issues

45 Records were the most common method of releasing music from the 1950s through 80's. This inexpensive alternative to buying a whole album, allowed fans to get exactly what they wanted and record labels to deliver music in a more cost effective and profitable format. Dr Hook's popularity in nearly 40 countries over the last three decades, lead to a great many single releases. It would be nearly impossible and quite silly to attempt to show every single 45 record ever released on this band, but we can show the picture sleeves. Most single records were shipped in generic record labels sleeves making the companies job even easier and more profitable. They did however occasionally send out singles in graphic sleeves, with images of the band, text, or both. These were especially popular overseas and make for some really great rare variations. In today's world of the net, it's actually possible to find many things from around the world, in the time it might have taken to find just one, years ago. We are showing approximately 100 picture sleeves on the site at this time, more than half of which the archives actually owns. Which means there are about 40-50 that are shown that are not in the collection, and I would guess another 100 or so we have not yet documented here. If you have images not shown, please think about emailing me to share them with all the fans around the world, who view this site.
